The Great Loss

This little boy is Edgar. He's sort of a misfit, and seeks comfort in the company of birds like crows and ravens. I think there is a series of events that shape who we become. I like to imagine that Poe was a sweet soul who suffered much and became a deeply talented, but dark person. This is his first great loss; the loss of his best bird friend. Naturally, the hole in the floorboards is a nod to one of his most well known stories.
